Casualty Extraction Dart Gorge

Team callout 13:50 21 June 2026.

As team members were going about their Sunday, some returning from training,  several supporting the Dartmoor Classic cycling event and also enjoying Fathers’ Day swimming in the river, all close to the Dart Gorge, we became aware of an incident unfolding at the bottom of the gorge.

Dog handlers deployed and SD Binnie proceeded to find a casualty, who had taken a significant tumble, and her partner.  Team members quickly set up rope systems to lower equipment and evacuate the casualty to the top of the gorge and to a land ambulance.

Thank you to Dan and family, who had been walking in the gorge, for walking out to raise the alarm, supporting the casualty and working as radio operator whilst team members were en-route.

We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
