At 22:35hrs on Friday 13th June the team responded to a call for help from a couple who had been caught out by the weather on Friday night.
Significant rain and high winds forced the pair to contact Devon & Cornwall Police to ask for assistance in getting off the moor from the Holwell Quarry area after they become disorientated.
A swift deployment of eight members quickly located with the aid of Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England Search Dog Amber, assessed and escorted the cold and wet, but otherwise uninjured couple safely off the moor.
We would encourage all those looking to explore Dartmoor to check weather forecasts prior to departing, as well as taking sufficient clothing, appropriate equipment with suitable food/drink.
