Fallen Climber Haytor Area

Callout Saturday 12th October
(Our 34th Callout of 2024)
At 15:57, the team were called to assist the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with an individual who had fallen whilst climbing and sustained a head injury. The individual had been climbing in a narrow steep sided quarry approximately 500m north west of Haytor Rocks. Two of our landrovers drove round the Haytor tramway to the northern end of the quarry to gain closer access. Our volunteers then assisted paramedics in bringing the individual out of the quarry and then drove them to an ambulance waiting at the roadhead. We wish them a speedy recovery.
The team stood down at approximately 17:30.
22 of our volunteers were involved in this callout.
