Incident - River Dart valley

Callout 23/2021 - New Bridge 13:43 29th August 2021

The team were called on Sunday 29th August at 13:43 to assist in an incident in which it was reported that a person had fallen from the Lover’s Leap crag on the ‘Loop’ section of the River Dart. Initially, we had no indication of the extent of the fall, the casualty’s condition, or indeed his whereabouts, as it was not clear whether he had fallen into the river. Some team members deployed to locations on both sides of the river, ahead of the arrival and set up of the control point. Despite very difficult communications team members were able to pass back limited information and it became clear that paramedics had pronounced the casualty dead at the scene.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult and traumatic time.
