Velntine's Day paddle finishes with helicopter airlift
The team were called at 16.45 yesterday, 14th February, to an injured kayaker on the upper Dart. Information about the exact location was coming in piecemeal as the team was making its way to the RV whilst Rescue 169(RAF) Sea King winched the injured kayaker and transferred him to Derriford Hospital.
The team received conflicting information about the rest of the party and their intentions but located all the remaining kayakers and assisted them for the last leg of their walk out of the upper Dart valley.
Best wishes to the injured party and well done to his colleagues who were reasonably equipped and managed their self rescue well.
Also on scene and many thanks to Devon and Cornwall Police, NPAS Exeter, BASICS Devon, SWAST and 22 SquadronRAF
