Walker injured in Upper Dart Valley slip

The team were called today at 16:59 to assist the South West Ambulance Service with the extraction of a casualty who had sustained a minor lower leg injury after slipping by the river in the Upper Dart Valley.

Paramedics were in attendance to assess the casualty’s injury before she was packaged on to our stretcher. Once secure, a rope system was put in place to relay the casualty up the steep side of the valley to safety and a land ambulance.

The lady was taken to hospital to have her injury x-rayed.

Our duty search manager commented

“This was a perfect example of our volunteers working alongside full-time emergency service personnel to effect the safe rescue of casualty from a difficult to access location. We wish the lady a very speedy recovery.”

Update

We’ve since been told that the lady concerned was found to have chipped a bone in her foot and is now on crutches and expected to make a full recovery
