Missing person located following 8 hour Dartmoor search

At 20:52 on Monday 28th September, a full team callout was issued to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with a search for a missing female in her late 40’s. The lady had been last sighted in the Haytor Down and Holwell Lawn area earlier in the day and the Police were concerned for her safety.

The search involved around 30 of our volunteers, Police and the Police helicopter. As the night wore on, search managers were confident the lady was still in the area and our colleagues at DSRT Tavistock were placed on standby to continue the systematic search once our volunteers were stood down around 03:00

Fortunately the lady was located around 04:30 this morning by a DSRT Tavistock team where she was given medical attention on site before being evacuated to a land ambulance.

Our team duty search manager said “We believe the lady concerned was moving throughout the evening and hence made our search even more challenging. We are very grateful to all our volunteers who turned out overnight and those from our sister team at Tavistock who brought the search to a successful conclusion.”
