Devon volunteers called to Yorkshire floods
The team have been called out, alongside other Dartmoor teams and Exmoor, to assist with the flood situation in Yorkshire.
Please spare a thought for the 16 DSRT Ashburton members who are driving to York right now to assist with flood recovery work. Please also think of their families and friends whose sacrifice often gets missed.
The search and rescue teams from Dartmoor, Exmoor and Cornwall are all supporting this effort to respond to flooding alongside team members from many mountain rescue teams nationwide.
On standby
The team were on standby to help with the floods just before Christmas in Cumbria, however we weren’t required.
The SW peninsula region has provided 49 people (22 Swift Water Rescue Technicians, 27 Level 2 trained), 8 4×4 vehicles, 1 boat and 2 water incident search managers. This still leaves over 75% of our personnel and the better part of our resources in the area.
